The Baltimore City Health Department is monitoring the monkeypox (MPX) virus activity in the United States closely.

If you are concerned about symptoms of monkeypox, or that you have been in contact with monkeypox, please advise the reception team when calling to make your appointment. We will arrange appropriately for your assessment.

BCHD Sexual Health and Wellness Clinics appointments for MPX vaccine screening are filled. There currently are no additional appointments for MPX vaccine. This message will be updated if more MPX vaccine appointment slots become available.

Individuals who are concerned they may have Monkeypox should call their provider for testing. If you do not have a primary care provider, they can make an appointment at the BCHD Sexual Health and Wellness Clinics for MPX testing.

BCHD eligibility criteria for Monkeypox Vaccine

(as of 7/21/22)

An individual 18 years old or older* who self-identifies as any of the following:

  •  A man who has sex with men, or
  • A transgender woman, or
  • A nonbinary person assigned male sex at birth, or
  • Sex worker of any sex

Who has had 2 or more casual or unknown/anonymous

sexual partners in the past 2 weeks.

Or

An individual with a known exposure to Monkeypox.

*Monkeypox vaccine is FDA approved for those 18 and older

The I Want The Kit website offers free, at-home STI testing kits to Maryland residents by mail. At-home HIV test kits are available to residents of Baltimore City.

Sexual Health Clinics Overview

Getting yourself tested for sexually transmitted infections is the first step in taking responsibility for your sexual health and the health of your partners. Get a free test for HIV or other sexually transmitted infections (STIs) at one of our Sexual Health clinics.

The Bureau of Clinical Services operates two Sexual Health Clinics. These clinics provide free and confidential testing, diagnosis, and treatment for STIs, including chlamydia, gonorrhea, trichomonas, NGU, syphilis, herpes simplex virus, and genital warts (HPV), and HIV.  They also provide testing, diagnosis, and treatment for yeast infections, bacterial vaginosis, and Hepatitis C.  The clinics provide Ryan White primary care services for HIV-positive clients along with STI testing. The clinics offer services for more than 15,000 patient visits per year.

  • Pap tests for cervical cancer screening
  • Testing and treatment for vaginal yeast infection and bacterial vaginosis
  • Pregnancy testing and referrals
  • Hepatitis C testing and treatment
  • Confidential partner notification services for syphilis and HIV
  • Substance use and mental health screenings and referrals
  • Referrals for primary care, dental and vision services

Appointments
During the COVID-19 pandemic, appointments are required for clinic visits.
