SENIOR FARMERS’ MARKET NUTRITION PROGRAM TIPS
Seniors must be 60 years old or older, show proof of age, be a Baltimore City resident and meet income guidelines.
Checks are a limited supply and will be distributed first come first served.
Facts
- Eligible seniors will receive $50.00 worth of checks for fresh fruits, vegetables, herbs, and honey
- Once distributed, 2023 Farmers’ Market checks will be valid July 1, 2023-November 30, 2023. During this time the checks can be redeemed at designated farmers’ markets and approved farmers throughout Maryland.
- Checks should be treated as cash and cannot be replaced
- Checks are available at senior centers in Baltimore
- You do not need to be a member of a senior center to receive checks at the center you choose
- A proxy designee may obtain checks for a senior who is eligible
- If a proxy gets checks for a senior then their signature will be required when signing the checks at the market.
- Checks are available on a “first-come, first-serve” basis

Market Tips
- Arrive at the market early for the best choices
- Farmers will not give change. The check value needs to be used in the purchase
- Bargaining is not allowed
- The best variety of fruits and vegetables will be available later in the summer
- You do not need to use all of your checks at once
