BALTIMORE, MD (December 16, 2015)– Baltimore City Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen today issued the following statement urging residents to take precautions in order to prevent foodborne illness throughout the winter season:
"In recent weeks, there has been an increase in visits to Baltimore-area emergency rooms with residents reporting gastrointestinal illness such as diarrhea, vomiting, and upset stomach. As the city's doctor, I want to remind Baltimore’s residents that as we approach the time for office gatherings, holiday parties, and other celebrations, we must all take steps to prevent ourselves from getting sick and stop spreading diseases to others around us, including children and older adults.
