Sen. Cardin Meets with Researchers at Johns Hopkins to Discuss Concerns over Zika Virus (ABC)

As summer days are right around the corner, mosquitos could be out in full force in the near future.
With concerns over mosquitos potentially carrying the Zika virus, Sen. Ben Cardin and Baltimore Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen were at Johns Hopkins discussing how to be prepared for the virus. Cardin said whatever available resources our community has to stay safe should be implemented since the need for prevention is immediate.
"There is a huge unmet need not just in the state of Maryland, but nationally," said Dr. Jeanne Sheffield, director of Maternal Feral Medicine Division at Johns Hopkins. "As to funding, availability of treatments, vaccines, mosquito control, pretty much everything that's going to be needed in the next few months as the mosquito season rolls around."
