Preventing Child Fatality Summit

Preventing Child Fatality Summit

Thursday, June 29, 2017 - 12:00pm to 4:30pm

B’more for Healthy Babies is hosting its first Preventing Child Fatality Summit—A provider focused event aimed at improving maternal and child health in Baltimore city. This symposium will focus on how healthcare providers can interact with the Baltimore City Public Health system so that their patients can get access to the services and programs needed to complement the care they provide and save children’s lives.

Topics addressed will include preventing substance exposed newborns, connecting patients to resources, findings from child fatality review, and more. Our keynote speaker this year will be Dr. Leana Wen, physician, health commissioner of Baltimore City, and Chair for Child Fatality Review.

We will also have Dr. Howard Dubowitz talk about Identifying Families at Risk Early in Well-Child Care and Dr. Lauren Jansson and Dr. Martha Velez present on Special Needs of Substance-Exposed Newborns and Their Caregivers.

If you are a healthcare or social work professional that works with mothers and children, this summit is for you!

Lunch will be provided.
