Today, the Baltimore City Health Department released an infographic on opioid-related deaths in Baltimore City from 2011 through 2015.

On Monday, August 31, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, the Baltimore City Health Department and community leaders will be observing International Overdose Awareness Day.

The Health Department is leading efforts with the city’s 311 system to ensure prescription medicine is available to residents impacted by civil unrest.

More than 170 people in the United States have been confirmed to have measles this year, many of whom who had not been vaccinated against the preventable disease. Please take a moment and sign the Baltimore Statement on Childhood Vaccination petition to demonstrate your support in the stand against measles. 

With Leana Wen, M.D. officially beginning her tenure tomorrow as Commissioner of the Baltimore City Health Department, today she announced details of her priority areas and several key additions to her senior leadership team. Dr. Wen replaces Dr. Jacquelyn Duval-Harvey, who had served as interim health commissioner since May 2014 and has been named Director of the Mayor’s Office of Human Services.

National HIV / AIDS Aging Awareness Day is September 18th.  Aging is a part of life, HIV doesn’t have to be!  There is free HIV testing available at Baltimore City Senior Centers all month.
