Baltimore City Health Department Joins the Northeast Public Health Collaborative

PRESS RELEASE

Monday, December 8, 2025 (BALTIMORE, MD) – We are proud to announce the Baltimore City Health Department (BCHD) has joined the Northeast Public Health Collaborative, a voluntary coalition of regional public health agencies dedicated to advancing coordination, preparedness, and evidence-based practice across the northeast.

The Baltimore City Health Department, which is the oldest, continuously-operating health department in the nation, joins a network of public health organizations committed to strengthening community health through collaboration, innovation, and science-driven policy.

“It is an honor to join the Northeast Public Health Collaborative and to work alongside colleagues who share a deep commitment to protecting and improving the health of residents within the City of Baltimore,” said Dr. Michelle Taylor, Baltimore City Commissioner of Health. “In my first few months as Health Commissioner, I’ve seen the importance of partnership and shared expertise in addressing today’s public health challenges. This collaboration provides an invaluable opportunity to learn, share, and strengthen our collective readiness.”

The Northeast Public Health Collaborative is a voluntary partnership among public health agencies in the region. Its purpose is to optimize shared resources, reimagine core services, and build trust in public health. The Collaborative’s shared goal is to protect the health, safety, and well-being of all residents, while ensuring equitable access to vaccines, medications, and essential services.

As a member of the Collaborative, the Baltimore City Health Department will contribute to regional initiatives that strengthen coordination, communication, and capacity.

“Our participation in the Collaborative reaffirms BCHD’s commitment to transparency, partnership, and evidence-based leadership,” added Dr. Taylor. “Together, we can advance community health, strength trust, and better prepare for the public health challenges of tomorrow.”
