Dr. Leana Wen is the Baltimore City Health Commissioner. An emergency physician and patient and community advocate, she serves in the administration of Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake to lead the oldest health department in the United States, formed in 1793. Dr. Wen oversees a department of over 1,100 employees with responsibilities that include a wide range of public health issues from youth wellness to substance addiction and chronic disease prevention to acute communicable diseases.

Dr. Shelley Hearne serves as the director of the Big Cities Health Coalition, which is a forum for the leaders of the nation's largest metropolitan health departments. She is also the executive director of the Forsythia Foundation. Previously, she was the managing director of the Pew Health Group of The Pew Charitable Trusts, overseeing its food safety, medical safety, research, and biomedical programs. 

Dr. Josh Sharfstein oversees the Office of Public Health Practice and Training, the General Preventive Medicine Residency and major practice activities, including collaboration with public health agencies. Previously, he served as the Secretary of the Maryland Department of Health and Mental Hygiene, the Principal Deputy Commissioner of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration, as Commissioner of Health for Baltimore City, and as health policy advisor for Congressman Henry A. Waxman.
