On Monday, August 31, Mayor Stephanie Rawlings-Blake, Congressman Elijah Cummings, the Baltimore City Health Department and community leaders will be observing International Overdose Awareness Day with a series of events to mark the ongoing fight against overdoses in Baltimore and to remember the 1,113 lives lost to overdose between 2010 & 2014. Events are planned throughout the day to remember those who have lost their lives and to ensure that those at risk have the opportunity for a second chance.

Events include:

• Free Naloxone training between 11 am & 5:30 p.m. at  dontdie.org bus and Metro station posters throughout the city.
• Mayor Rawlings-Blake, Congressman Elijah Cummings, Health Commissioner Dr. Leana Wen and community leaders will gather for a vigil at the War memorial Plaza in front of City Hall at 6:30 p.m.  1,113 purple roses - one for each life lost in Baltimore to overdose in the last 5 years - will cover the park.
